I joined Paul Turton on ABC NSW Mornings to unpack the public breakup between Donald Trump and Elon Musk, the unrest unfolding in Los Angeles, and the weakening U.S. dollar – and what this all means for Australia investors.
The highly publicised split between Trump and Musk has rattled investor sentiment around Tesla, X and SpaceX – with some even speculating this feud may be strategic and designed to influence share prices. This theory is further supported by the newly coined term TACO (Trump Always Chickens Out) – a label traders have given to Trump’s behaviour of escalating crisis only to backtrack later.
We also touched on the recent U.S. riots and how this is eroding investor confidence in the U.S. government even further. The weakening U.S. dollar, and increasing interest in Bitcoin/gold reflects this loss of faith.
Amid all the noise, investors should stay focussed on high quality companies that will deliver sustainable returns.
